gingerbread's house

Have you seen this new collection gingerbread house? It gave me a lot if inspiration.

I chose to make a house in felt, spotty buttons as windows, slices ribbon as door and lace roof's embellishment.

I have just add a gingerbread words ribbon to hang it . I don't know where at the moment but I will find!

I am beginning my christmas decorations very early this year...It's unusual for me!
Enjoy your week-end,

Love You to the Moon and Back Galaxy Background Box Frame

Good Morning Everyone!

It's Sarah B here today and I am sharing a Galaxy Background Box Frame Project inspired by the lovely Moon and Back Ribbon from Crafty Ribbons. I love making Galaxy Backgrounds and knew I had some perfect stamps to compliment this Ribbon :)

This ribbon is from the collection in the Alien Catagory

A close up of the ribbon before I put it in the box frame. Glass is so hard to photo!

I made an inky background using the Distress Inks in the various purples, blues and blacks, splashing water and flicking white acrylic until I was happy with the results. More details can be found on my blog!

Thanks for looking,

Ribbon Weaving

Hi Folks, Laura here today sharing a ribbon weave clipboard with you...

I've used some pastel shades of our plain satin 9mm.  You can find this here on our website.  The clipboard is clear perspex and I picked it up from Paperchase a few years ago.

I'm no weaving expert - I think this is called Mad Weave.  This, presumably, is because it drives you mad trying to figure out how to do it!!  If you fancy a try you'll need lots of pins and a cork board bigger than the finished size of your weaving project.

First of all, you'll need to set up your vertical ribbons.  I went in a random order just to give me lots of colour but lining your ribbons up in a certain order will give you different finished patterns.  Pin to your cork board enough ribbons to cover the width of your clipboard (or other surface - you can add weaving to pretty much anything!)  They should be as close together as possible and exactly vertical for a nice tight weave - no wonky angles!

The second step is to weave ribbons in at a 30 degree angle.  I found it helpful to mark my corkboard and use a quilters ruler to get my angles exact.  The pattern to weave is over one, under two, over one, under two etc. of the vertical ribbons.  Your second ribbon should go over the next ribbon along to the one the first ribbon went over.  (It is easier to do than to explain!)  Again pin these ribbons in place so they don't move.

The third step is to weave a second set of ribbons in at a 30 degree angle, this time from the other side.  This time go over two, under one, over two, under one etc. of the vertical ribbons.  This time you need to navigate the second step ribbons too, making sure you are creating the little diamond shapes.

I realise I haven't put this into words very well so I'll point you to a video I have just found - video - I could have done with watching this before I got started!!

Once that was done I placed my clipboard on top.  I used super strong red backed double sided tape around the edge of the clipboard and one by one, unpinned each ribbon, folded it around the edge of the clipboard and stuck it down.  I trimmed the ends down and added another layer of tape and finished off with a length of ribbon to hide the unsightly ends.

The beauty of the perspex is you can see the weaving from both sides.  Because I wrapped it over the back and adhere only a small border on the front you still have a nice solid surface to write on too.

Tag us on Instagram (@craftyribbons) or Facebook if you share a weaving project - we'd love to see!

Thanks for looking!

Wicked tag bag

Hi there!!
It's Sara here, and today I have my very first project as DT member to show you.
Halloween is around the corner so I decided to go for an easy but super cute (don't you think so?) goodie bag to hold candies and chocolates..

I think it's perfect for kids, but also adult ones will appreciate it.
I was inspired by this WITCHES LEGS grossgrain ribbon.
I added just a little touch of black with this BLACK ROPE, to give that spooky look I wanted.

I leave here some more details in case you want to do this:

I hope to see your wonderful projects very soon!!
Please ask for any question.
HAPPY CRAFTY DAY!!

A layout with a cupcake

Sarah here with my first design team project. I used the lovely cupcake ribbon as my inspiration for the layout.

I weaved some seam binding ribbon around the edge of my cupcake diecut in pastel yellow and green, which matched my title perfectly.
Some sweet ric rac ribbon finished the layout off nicely.
You can find all the ribbons in the shop.

Scrapping with ribbon...

Hi folks, Laura here today.  Since I made this layout I have had half a stamped and painted image sat on my desk.  As you know, I don't like to throw anything away, so I designed this layout around it!

My only other criteria was 'use lots of ribbon!' and I managed to sneak some lace and sequins in too - life is hard!!

You an get your hands on the ribbons here: hearts and dots and you can find the teal ribbon and lilac lace on the Crafty Ribbons show stand - yes it is nearly show time again.

Thanks for looking!
