Silk Leaves on a Scrapbook Layout

Hi Guys!  Laura here today with a scrapbook layout.

This project started with one idea, circled through a couple more ideas and ended up being one of my favourite creations so far this year.

I started with some heart confetti cut on my Silhouette Cameo and Rose Gold Red Vibez from Shimmerz.  I was inspired by my friend Mary to have a good at a bokeh-type background.  You can see how in the video posted below.

That was just playing with no plan in place for the finished piece.  I decided to go the ribbon route and make it a DT piece for Crafty Ribbons.  I picked a few ribbons and dyed them with the same spray.

I then decided it needed some green, and what better than some silk leaves...

I also added silk twists to the centre of my vellum flower.  I'd have used french knots if I knew how to do them ;)

I used the following ribbons from Crafty Ribbons:  Organza Swiss Dots; Seam Binding; Silk Ribbons.

Here is the process:

Silk Ribbon embroidery - something different

Morning, Ali here today to share some of my silk  ribbon embroidery.

A dear friend of mine showed me her style of ribbon work, I was stunned.  So different from the traditional flowers, it broke all the rules.  She did confess that she did not know the rules!

I was itching to have a go, but did not get any free time till Christmas. I had been feeding the Blue Tits on my window sill so...........

........this little chap had to be my first attempt.  We launched him last week at the Paris show, he was much loved and stole the show for us.  Why not have a go at making him.  The kit can be found here, the design is printed on the fabric, very clear instructions, all the silk ribbon and needles you need to make you very own Blue Tit.

Pleased with my Blue Tit I just had to try to embroider a Robin......

....I love him.  Robins are very special to me, so I was a little apprehensive at first. Once again the design is printed on to the fabric so you just embroider over the top.  You can find the kit here. Totally love this style of ribbon work.  Thank you Laura.

If you want to stick with the traditional silk ribbon embroidery then try our Sundial Garden.  Gorgeous gathered hollyhocks, violets and daisies can be found here.

Our new ribbon challenge started yesterday on our Facebook page.  Why not join in by adding a photo to the challenge post.  You could win £15 to spend in our store.

Have fun

A bit of Vintage !!

Morning guys and Happy Valentines Day !!

Hope you are all feeling the love today !!

I'm sharing my Vintage feel keyring holder made using most of the ribbons found in the Vintage Butterflies collection found HERE.

Added some pink lace from my stash, a few buttons and embroidered some French knots using the narrow silk ribbon found HERE.

I've also fussy cut out one of the ribbon butterflies for an embellishment. This is very easy to do, just add some PVA glue to back of ribbon, let it dry and then cut out !!

Don't forget to pop over to our fb page as we run a regular challenge for anything made with ribbon on it !!

hugs Diane xx
